Ms. Sexy to your rescue

Rangiku Matsumoto is Hitsugaya's right-hand assistant and Hinamori's good friend, whose influence on HitsuHina proves to be nothing mediocre. Being one of the two leaders at Division 10, Rangiku shares a similar view with Hitsugaya as his partner and with Hinamori as a vice-captain. However, bearing a common title in Gotei 13-Tai does not justify Rangiku's protectiveness over the two, which is certainly beyond the ordinary scale of comradeship.

To start off, Rangiku was not partnered with Hitsugaya for no reason: they are able to support and sympathize with one another at a more personal level than most. The whole Aizen-Gin incident would be a good example: Rangiku did not hesitate to declare war on Gin when Hitsugaya was in pinch and Hinamori was hurt, even though Rangiku herself was the most affected by Gin's sudden betrayal. Was her decision purely based on a sense of duty? Not that simple. Just like how Hitsugaya followed Hinamori all the way to Gotei 13-Tai, Rangiku wouldn't be where she is today if Gin wasn't also a part of her path. With a similar determination to look after one's remaining "family" in Soul Society, Rangiku understands Hitsugaya's pain (of being attacked by a childhood friend) better than anyone else, which motivated her enough to challenge her childhood sweetheart at a time of crisis.

There is no doubt that Rangiku is a supporter of Hitsugaya and Hinamori, in a way that no other can compare. When Hitsugaya found Aizen's letter for Hinamori, he gave Rangiku the task of messenger. Generally speaking, Rangiku is better at soothing a heartbroken girl than Hitsugaya, who is not a man of many words. On the other hand, it was an action of absolute trust: after Aizen's sudden demise, Rangiku would be the person who knows and understands the most about Hitsugaya and Hinamori's unusual history. However, Rangiku is also mature enough to know her place: she would quietly walk out and shut the door behind her when Hitsugaya and Hinamori need some time of their own. (Think about the recent reunion between Hitsugaya and Hinamori in the human world) Although not mentioned much in the actual plot, both Hitsugaya and Hinamori seem appreciative of Rangiku's help, no matter how dire the circumstance is between themselves.

Overall, Rangaiku is a trustworthy and empathetic figure in the universe of HitsuHina. If you're interested in learning more about Rangiku as an individual, please visit Venus in the Dark.
