live or die
in a world of black and white

Think of yourself as a 15-year-old boy who can see the spirit of the dead. One day, your family
is targetted by a violent spirit (called hollow). Suddenly, a cute girl in black
hakama appears out of nowhere to your
rescue. Naming herself a Shinigami (a.k.a. God of Death), the girl informs you that your
overflowing spiritual energy is what attracts the hollow. As the girl receives a critical wound during the
fight, you feel responsible and decide to take over her task. In the end, the girl stabs you
with her sword (called Zanpakutou a.k.a. Soul Cutter) so you can have some of her Shinigami
power to fight the enemy. However, you end up sucking up all of the girl's power for unknown reasons and
defeat the hollow easily. Next day, you meet up with the girl again as a transfer student at your school, who
forcibly appoints you as a "Shinigami Daikou (substitute)". Now you're suddenly facing a much larger
responsibility in life - with so much excitement to follow.
Woah, that was a lot of information to digest at once. Yet it is merely a beginning to the story of Bleach. You won't meet the focus of our site - Hitsugaya and Hinamori - until way later, but the first 10 volumes (15~20 episodes in terms of anime) will get you started with all the difficult names and vocabularies. Having a brief idea of what Bleach is all about will help you enhance your understanding for our pair later on, I can guarantee that.
